We wish to welcome you to Karangahake School and invite your family to join our community.

Our school Board of Trustees is made up of 5 elected or selected parent trustees, our principal and one staff representative. We are passionate about the future of our school. We work with our school leaders and wider community to make the school the best it can be for our children. We aim to support our teachers and staff to work to the best of their abilities, so they can provide a positive and stimulating environment for our children. We believe that with this they can empower the students to “Strive for Excellence”, not just in achievement, but to build resilience for the future, confidence, adaptability, community mindedness and respect.

Our board meets once a month, these dates are advised in our school newsletter. Members of the school community are welcome to attend these meetings and minutes will always be available to view on request from our school office. The office administrator minutes these meetings. 

Currently we are in the process of selecting our fifth trustee.

What does the Board of Trustees do?

We are the governing body of the school. We work alongside the principal to put policies in place to ensure the smooth operation of our school. These are formulated by the New Zealand School Trustees association and School Docs (an online policy and procedure System). These policies are all available to view on our website. 

We also review the budget and allocate spending where we see gaps and resourcing requirements.

A triennial charter is one of our main tasks which is a plan for the schools focus and direction over the course of the next three years.  We review achievement, wellbeing, property and community survey data to decide what this focus will be.
